S2E10: Prayer Card

Refusing to accept that the odds of his rap career taking off is weaker than his hairline, WIM opens another TGOS episode with the struggle bars unofficial Washed Chronicles Mixtape prologue. If you manage to survive the first 30 seconds of struggle, this week’s Twitter poll is one of our most popular ever when we ask the inevitable question: What is the most intimate? The answer might surprise you (if you’re not a Twitter user).

What’s the most intimate?

— WIM of TGOS (@TGOSPodcast) July 26, 2016

We’re not done there! We kept it light-hearted this week with a mixtape of topics including but by no means limited to:

  • How black (or not black) is Bow Wow Really?
  • Do women really think everything under 7-foot is short?
  • How to be “less dangers” while Black — according to Anslem Rocque
  • Is Arthur the Aardvark a savage or tragically misplaced meme?

Lastly, a new segment is born: #TGOPrayerCard.

S2Ep9: Interactions with Police Pt. 2

Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of those impacted on both sides of the black and blue. We’re back with Part 2: after two  tragic shootings of officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, TGOS solicits “Use Your Voice” from our listeners covering their experiences and interactions with law enforcement. In the second episode, we turn it over to our listeners to express their feelings and interactions with law enforcement over the years. An emotional episode covering the every day interactions to a listener’s experience with the loss of a family member, we hear the impact of how one bad experience (or multiple) can have on a person’s entire life. Tune in and listen or continue to ‘Use Your Voice’ in the comments below. Share your thoughts on the show or your own personal experiences. We welcome the good, the bad, and the ugly on this one.

We’d also like to thank everyone who took the time to call in with their experiences or contact us on Twitter and Facebook. This wasn’t easy and we recognize that. We continue to thank all of our listeners–those who shared their experiences on this show and the silent majority among you. A special thanks and recognition to all who support the show goes out today. We appreciate you.

S2Ep9: Interactions with Police Pt. 1

Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of those impacted on both sides of the blue and black lines. After two recent and tragic shootings of Officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, TGOS solicits a “Use Your Voice” segment from our listeners regarding their experiences and interactions with law enforcement. In the first of a two part episode on the topic, Rich and WIM originally planned to discuss their views on the current state of affairs, another shooting of police officers in Baton Rouge occurred during the live taping of the episode. This week’s show is raw and our feelings and response was recorded in real time as the details of the most recent tragedy unfolded. Later in the episode, WIM opens about how the culmination of recent events led to him choosing to leave behind a decade in criminal justice and law enforcement performance reviews to take a much needed mental, personal, and professional break from the field. Tune in to hear our experiences and those experiences of listeners of the show.

S2E7: Bacon Is Better

bacshape

http://rss.acast.com/twoguysoneshow/s2ep7-baconisbetter/media.mp3

I miss my Silverback Gorilla, yall! Harambe, the 400lb, 17-year-old Gorilla, gone too soon. We share our thoughts on: 1) what we would have done as parents if our child(ren) fell into a Gorilla pit; 2) do we agree with the zoo’s decision to shoot Harambe; and 3) what we learned about ourselves, the internet, and life from the story of the Gorilla and the 4-year old.

On a lighter topic, we passionately debate this week’s Twitter poll: Bacon v “Relations”

Which is better?

— WIM & Rich (@TGOSPodcast) May 30, 2016

As the Memorial Day weekend winds down, WIM & Rich wonder why adulting has so few truly EXCITING moments after Rich asks, “When was the last time you were truly EXCITED about something?” Have a response of your own? Share in the comments below or hit us on Twitter or Facebook!

S2E6: Must Be Nice…

hmphb

Down goes Banks! Down goes Azealia Stanks!! After 7 years of abusive rants against other rappers, artists, and the regular Twitter community, Twitter finally decided to disable Azealia Banks account, but not before Disney star Skai Jackson managed to Tweet-snatch her edges like only a 14-year old would know how. Equally baffling, Azealia apologized — something she hasn’t done in 7 years. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more confusing, @TGOSPodcast found a small minority, no pun, of Azealia defenders who thought Twitter targeted her for being a woman of color rather than a repeat offender of the sites terms of use, terms which seem rarely applied (agreed) and unequally enforced (also agreed) even when rarely applied by Twitter. As the apartment search continues, Rich is reminded that “privilege must be nice” as he wonders how much of an impact his race is having on his house hunting experience.

S2E5: Sidewalks

TGOS Poll: Nice guys still finishing last in 2016? Survey says…

In the above scenario have you:

— WIM & Rich (@TGOSPodcast) April 23, 2016

A stroll down memory lane reminds WIM of how the past isn’t that far in the past. During a recent family vacation, WIM learns that his Grandfather served in World War II as his father shows him where he grew up and the impact segregation — yes, that segregation — had on his childhood. Life is put in perspective as he learns his father had to play in the “blacks only” park and that he didn’t experience integration into High School. Rich and WIM discuss this generation’s *struggles versus those of our parents and beyond. Do millennials really identify with the struggle beyond hashtags and RTs? What are your thoughts? Are our elders right to say their struggles > ours? Or are the Struggle Olympics an endeavor we’re all still racing to escape? This episode goes deep with no pause. Check it out and share your thoughts in the comments below or email us.

S2E4: We Broke the Format

kanye50

http://rss.acast.com/twoguysoneshow/s2ep4-webroketheformat/media.mp3

This week we hit the Digital Dash with the TGOS topics. But first, how does your companies dress code (assuming you follow it) compare to TGOS listeners?

What is your job’s “dress code”?

— WIM & Rich (@TGOSPodcast) April 14, 2016

Main show topics cover:

  • The BuzzFeed video heard (mocked?) around the world — and the follow-up *apology.
  • We learn Kanye West is a little slow
  • KobeSystem and the impact Kobe’s retirement had on TGOS
  • Kyrie Irving; PND; and what’s her name reveal the uglier side of Twitter hypocrisy
